I’m Back!

Hey there!  Did you miss me?  It’s all good if you didn’t.  I won’t hold it against you.  I’ve been busy.  Really busy.  Let me catch you up a little…

Penguin #4 was born in June of 2017. 7 lbs, 4 oz and 19 inches long, he came flying into this world just minutes before midnight right on his due date.  First child that actually came when he was supposed to.  He sure had me tricked, too.  I had a traumatic morning, because my midwife said she couldn’t deliver him and I’d have to find another place to have him if I went into labor.  I honestly didn’t think he’d be coming anytime soon because he was sitting crooked.  He sure showed me, right!  I went into labor that same evening and ended up delivering him in the emergency room.  He is 9 months now and as beautiful as the day he was born.  He for sure makes this family feel complete.

What else…

Oh, my oldest started Kindergarten in August and my 2nd child is in his last year of Head Start (it’s pre-school, in case you didn’t know).  My 3rd started school in January but his teacher quit and they transferred his classmates to another class.  I just decided to keep him home with me until next year.  No big deal.  We were doing mini home school sessions while his older siblings were at school so we just picked up where we left off.  I’ve added to his “curriculum” here and there so he doesn’t get too bored seeing the same stuff over again.  Which leads me to my next big news…

I joined Usborne Books & More as an Independent Consultant.  I love the books as much as the kids do. In fact, I might have more fun than they do picking out new titles.  I was spending so much, I thought it would be a great idea to join the team! Right now,  we are big into the Wipe-Clean Activity Books and my girl goes nuts for any of the Billie B. Brown books.  There are so many learning activities and books to choose from to make your own home school session.  We haven’t quite gotten to tracing yet, but it’s coming.  I don’t know why I’m nervous about it. The dry-erase marker comes right off with little to no mess.  For right now, I show him a card, tell him what it is and have him repeat it.  He’s really good at it.

We have plans to do a little home school this summer with all of the kids just to prevent that summer slide.  I loaded up on more wipe-clean activity books.  Seriously, there are so many, from money, spelling and alphabet to math.  You really should check them out.

Not to bring you down, we did have a bad start to our new year.  I lost my beautiful sister in February, just days before her 30th birthday.  She was brave and strong all the way to the end.  I’m not going to go into a whole lot of detail or I’ll be a sobbing mess and never finish writing.  Just know, she is deeply missed and I feel that everything I try to achieve is all for her.  She was, and still is, my strength.

Well, that’s about it for now.  I just wanted to share a bit of what we’ve been up to since my last post.  I’ve got more, but we’ll just save that for another day.

I’d love to hear from you.  If you are a home-schooling momma (or dad) let me know what you practices you use.  I’ll touch more on our routine in a later post, so stay tuned.

Cheers!
